Understanding Restraining and Protective Orders
There are two kinds of orders.
- Protective Orders - These orders are automatically triggered in cases of domestic violence by a judge, and remain in effect until the final disposition of the domestic violence case.
- Restraining Orders - A civil order requested by a party against a perceived threat. Requires a hearing to determine the threat posed, and if approved is good for six months.
In both cases, whether you are the named party in the order or you are the one seeking protection, it is in your best interests to have a competent and reliable lawyer arguing your side. Our attorney's work is based on more than a decade of law enforcement experience.
If you have been named in a protective order, you may be facing severe limits on your freedoms, even to the point of being removed from your own home. We can help you seek restraining order modifications to a more reasonable accommodation, particularly if you can indicate that you pose no threat.
